Databases

Databases are created, amended and deleted through the Database grid in Reference Data Manager.

A Database consists of

Database - Database name within SQL Server or Oracle

Server Name - Database server and instance

Database Type - Predefined Application database identifiers 

Database Technology - SQL Server, Analysis Services, Reporting Services or Oracle

Database Technology Version - The Database Technology version (e.g. SQL2008R2, SQL2012, Oracle 12c, etc)

Databases are associated or allocated with the following

  • Environments

To create a new database

Open Databases from Reference Data Manager

Click Add Database

Enter Database Name, DB Server Name

Select DB Type, DB Technology and DB Technology Ver from drop down

Click Save

Save will apply changes and take you back to the Database grid

 

To edit an existing database

Open Databases from Reference Data Manager

Click Edit (Pen icon) for the Database you wish to amend

Update Database Name, DB Server Name as required

Select DB Type, DB Technology and DB Technology Ver from drop down as required

Click Save

Click Cancel If you do not wish save your changes

Save or Cancel will take you back to the Database grid

To Delete an existing database

Open Databases from Reference Data Manager

Click Delete (Bin icon) for the Database you wish to delete

You will be asked to confirm your Deletion

Database grid is refreshed

If the Database is associated or allocated then the Deletion will be blocked and an error message display. These associations and allocations need to be removed before the Database can be deleted.

Please note, if deleted by mistake then the Database will need to be recreated through the Create process.
