Up until now we have not logged into the Servers themselves – we have only been dealing with reference data within emdash. Now, we need to check that the servers themselves have some of the pre-requisite software and settings that emdash is dependent on.
At some clients the application servers are provisioned in the Virtual Environment from a template, so the initial installation of Endur has already been done. This means that the registry entries that are updated through the Code Upgrade exist – so there is no need to re-install the MSI files.
ENDUR_DRIVE_LETTER is an environment variable that is needed on each server. This is used to confirm where the Endur binaries should be copied to. This applies to all servers- Application and Citrix servers. In the VM Image, this is usually the F:\ drive (so ENDUR_DRIVE_LETTER should be F).
Local Security Policy needs to be updated to allow the Service Accounts to have ‘Login as a Service Rights’. You can do this by opening up Local Security Policy on the server:
- Open Local Security Policy.
- In the console tree, double-click Local Policies, and then click User Rights Assignments.
- In the details pane, double-click Log on as a service.
- Click Add User or Group, and then add the appropriate account to the list of accounts that possess the Log on as a service right.
