Environment XML Templates

We've introduced the concept of defining Environments in XML. This allows customers to tailor the configuration of an Environment before it is built. They can add extra servers, services and users to a default Environment.

This is a new feature introduced in version 3.1 build 1802.

To set up XML Create Wizard templates:

  • The folder wizardtemplates is now used to expose wizard templates used by emdash to the highest level - along side the installer folder. This is created by running the emdashDeploy.ps1 script.
  • The folder is created with the running of either SetupEndurFindur or SetupRightAngle - These are safe to rerun with current emdash installations. You can find these in "C:\emdash\installer\Scripts\emDash\"
  • EmdashInstaller Backups up the folder, if it exists, to “C:\emdash\backups\{DATETIME_OF_BACKUP}\wizardtemplates”
  • When the SetupEndurFindur is run the Wizard template for Endur, “EnvironmentWizardTemplate - Endur.xml”, is copied from “C:\emdash\installer\Data\CreationWizardTemplates” directory to “C:\emdash\wizardtemplates” directory – creating the directory if it doesn’t already exist. A record is created in the emdash WizardTemplate table linking the ID of the Endur application to the fully qualified path of the template file “EnvironmentWizardTemplate - Endur.xml”
  • User Issues may occur here where accounts already exist as Endur System account or Endur User however we are phasing these user types out in favour of generic types.
  • When SetupRightAngle is run, similarly to the Endur setup script, the RightAngle wizard template “EnvironmentWizardTemplate – RightAngle.xml” is copied from “C:\emdash\installer\Data\CreationWizardTemplates” directory to “C:\emdash\wizardtemplates” directory – creating the directory if it doesn’t already exist. A record is created in the emdash WizardTemplate table linking the ID of the RightAngle application to the fully qualified path of the template file “EnvironmentWizardTemplate - RightAngle.xml”
